Adding a Device Override

In This Article:

Device overrides allow the reseller administrator to customize the appearance and behavior of devices connected to the AVATAVA Cloud Softswitch on the device or domain level. Please see the individual features guides for your device-specific overrides.

General Recommendations On Device Overrides:

  • Only users with Reseller scope can edit device overrides
  • Device overrides, if not directly inputted into a field, should be edited with a text editor (We recommend Sublime Text Editor or Notepad on Windows/TextEdit on MacOS) instead of a text processing program like Microsoft Word. Quotation marks for instance must be added straight up and down " instead of curved (also commonly called "smart" quotation marks).
  • The syntax for device overrides is always deviceoverride="value" with no spaces
  • Values may vary among product lines and firmware revisions for different manufacturers
  • When in doubt, contact AVATAVA Support for guidance

Via SNAPbuilder

    1. Under the user's domain, go to Inventory-> Phone Hardware, and select the device under the Inventory Tab that you wish to modify and enter SNAPbuilder.

  1. Select the kebab menu (87three vertical dots) next to the Directory button, and select additional phone settings from the drop-down menu.
  2. Apply the override(s) specific to the device.
  3. Select the Done button and once you have finished the device configuration, Save and Apply the Configuration. The Device Overrides will be applied via the updated configuration file.

Via Device Edit

  1. For Devices not supported by SNAPbuilder, under the user's domain, select the device under the Inventory Tab that you wish to modify and select the edit button.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Apply the override(s) specific to the device.
  4. Select the Save button and reboot the device or Save and Apply the Configuration if the device supports it. The Device Overrides will be applied via the updated configuration file.

Device overrides which are applied incorrectly may cause the phone to behave in an unstable or inconsistent manner. Changing AVATAVA default configurations may also make the device more likely to be compromised and for fraudulent calling, which the user is responsible for, to be billed to the account. Bench testing should be completed prior to applying the device overrides on an active device or domain.
