A Telephone Number (TN) is historically associated with a copper path or circuit, today we tend to use this term synonymously with DID. We use DID's instead of telephone numbers as we can virtually assign them to a Call Path instead of tying them to specific physical infrastructure to allow functionality such as using the same TN for all outbound calls at a business.
