A domain alias is a domain which you own, but which doesn't have it's own website or unique content. For example, you may have a dot com as your main website, but also have registered a .net and .org version of the same name. Your website may have multiple names as aliases to the main domain name.
Creating a Domain Name Alias
To add a domain name alias on cPanel based hosting, from the hosting control panel:
- click on "Login to cPanel"
- In cPanel under "Domains" click "aliases"
- Enter the alias domain in the box and click "Add Domain"
- Click "go back" when it is done and you should see the alias listed.
- That should be it. Note that the domain name should already be registered with DNS pointing at our servers prior to adding the alias.
To remove a domain alias simply click on the "remove" link in the list. Note that you can also manage domain redirection from this list as well.
