Voice Over Internet Protocol technology is not suitable for specific applications designed with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) in mind. Due to the susceptibility of the device not to work as designed over a VOIP network, the following products are prohibited or will be supported on a best-effort basis by AVATAVA.
We recommend using a Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) from the ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier), or conversion to an Ethernet-based solution for the following applications:
Prohibited Equipment:
- Elevator Telephones
- Emergency Response Monitoring or Dispatch
- Fire or Security Alarms
- Life Safety and Health Devices
- Medical Monitoring Devices
Limited Support Devices:
- Credit Card Terminals
- Fax Machines Connected Via A Traditional ATA (See Faxing with AVATAVA)
- Postage Machines
- VOIP Devices Connected To A Cellular Data or Satellite Connection
- Any device traditionally connected to the PSTN to send data instead of voice communications
