PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network

PSTN stands for the Public Switched Telephone Network, which is the aggregate of local, long-distance, and international carriers that make up the worldwide telephone network. The PSTN is historically analog, but today is almost entirely digital in the core network including cellular telephone systems.
