One of the key concerns from business customers in the medical field is compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA). For LAN side networks, there are many implications but for cloud-based systems typically far fewer.
The primary setting that needs to be changed for customers concerned about HIPPA compliance is voicemail to e-mail. The only option which is HIPPA compliant is "send with hyperlink", as no potential confidential information will be contained in the e-mail.
All portal access to the AVATAVA Cloud Softswitch is protected with 2048-bit SHA256 SSL certificates or better. Servers, including voicemail storage and other recording storage, are protected in Tier-III+ Data Centers with private security teams which meet Type 2 SOC 2 certification and ISO 27001 PCI-DSS certification. This meets all HIPPA requirements
All voice traffic is protected by SIP-TLS or WebRTC utilizing TLS 3.0 encryption. For more information on WebRTC and how AVATAVA is using it with SNAPmobile please see this knowledge base article: What is WebRTC and How does AVATAVA use it?
AVATAVA does not guarantee HIPPA compliance nor have we certified our system for HIPPA. We believe the AVATAVA Cloud Softswitch meets HIPPA compliance guidelines, but it is up to the AVATAVA customer to determine if the system will meet applicable guidelines. AVATAVA is willing to assist with any inquires into HIPPA compliance.
